Unable to read report data file
While investigating a problem one of our clients are experiencing I found an issue with the Rattle R&R active X control.____The client is experiencing the following error when trying to view a report: "Unable to read report data file". We realised this was a site related problem as they have many other sites that access the internet application where the reports are and these are working fine.____We felt this would be something to do with either firewall or proxy configuration, so set up a test site here as follows:__* Web server running IIS 5 and the intranet application setup on network 192.168.0.* with IP address 192.168.0.171__* ISA Firewall machine with dual network cards looking at networks 192.168.0.* and 192.168.1.* with IPs of 192.160.0.170 and 192.168.1.1__* Client machine running Internet Explorer 6 looking at network 192.168.1.* with an IP address of 192.168.1.2____The client machine has been set up to have a proxy server of 192.168.1.1 and the ISA server configured as a standard proxy server.____The client could access the intranet application without problem through the proxy and also load the ASP page that contained the Active X Rattle R&R control. The control loaded OK, but when it tried to get the report data the above error appeared.____After running through some trace procedures on the client and isa server we found the Rattle control was trying to connect directly to port 80 on the web server machine, which is not always possible when running through a proxy server environment with a non routable network. It seems that the Rattle control doesn^t honour the Internet Explorer option to use a proxy server.____The problem was resolved on our test site by installing the Microsoft Proxy Client, which allowed the request to port 80 to be forwarded via the ISA firewall computer to the web server and returned in the same manner. This however is not a viable solution on our clients site and so I was wondering if there is a setting that we have missed when going through the documentation to enable support for a proxy server. If this is not that case would it be possible for a fix to be put into the application, or an alternative work around be suggested.____Richard Ward__Software Support Engineer__Warwick International Computing Systems

Fixing this problem will indeed require us to make a software update. We have added this to the to do queue for the next update. However we do not as yet have an availability date for the fix I am afraid.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Hi,__Is there any news on when this will be fixed. It is causing serious implications for some of our customers as they are having to bypass their default network security to accesss the reports.____Regards,__Richard Ward____Software Support Engineer____Warwick International Computing Systems

Again any news on this would be great. We have a few clients still waiting on this to be fixed before they can implement any form of Rattle.____Regards,__Richard Ward__Warwick International Computing Systems
