Error with trying to print pdf
Error with trying to print pdf
I get an error when trying to print to pdf. Error "Cannot match printer to port in control file." I am using the R&R version 11.0.6.0. I have installed the print drivers to local machine. The printer is a network printer. Prints OK to printer directly.____Any clues to help__Thanks__Dan____

====> RE: Error with trying to print pdf
I am still not able to print to pdf format. From the Windows TS 2003 I have installed the pdf drivers per instructions. I still get error of "Cannot match printer or port to control file". Is there a problem with the driver running on this 2003 server. I have also selected "not configured" for the Kernel drivers on the server. I am using Report Works 11____Thanks for help,____Dan
=====> RE: Error with trying to print pdf
I have been able to print to pdf by setting the ri_wptr=default and ri_wport= "?". The pdf file is created but when I try to open the pdf file I get error message:____"could not open "filename.pdf" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged"____Do you have any clues as to this problem.(RR v11)____Thanks__Dan

What^s your file size of that pdf? I get that message when I have a blank pdf, i.e. 1K or less.____Are you able to preview the report? You indicated that it did print data.

Thanks Lisa for you reply.____I finally got it to print. The file size is small <20k. The problem seemed to be two fold. Not able to load kernel printer on terminal server and print path not recognized from rsw.ini for image file. I set the kernel printer to "disable" and coded the print string with the /I path statement and everything is now working. Remote access terminal on a termial server doesn^t seem to recognize the default settings in the rsw.ini file.____Dan

We have a trick to fix this.__- With a administrative user account execute a normal report and when it is running, open the printer properties. This will keep the pdf printer port and the Amyuni^s driver on the Windows Print Server;__- When you close the printer properties screen, it will be deleted automatically;__- So, you will add a new printer, using the pdf print port and any printer driver you want;__- Take care with the printer^s name, must be exactly "R&R PDF Export";__- Open the new printer properties and change the driver in the Advanced tab to Amyuni.__- Now, the users can^t use administrative accounts to generate reports, because the printer will be removed, so, use just regular users.____Best Regards.__Paulo Lima
