Cannot match printer

Post by JeffH » Fri Feb 08, 2008 5:30 pm

Hi,____I^ve looked in the forums and throughout the web for a possible answer and I can^t find anything that resolves this error. I have Windows XP desktops that receive printer assignments via Active Directory. I am deploying these printers by using a script with a phrase that resembles this:__^rundll32.exe printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /ga /n\<server nameprinter name^ (without the quotes). Users print fine from other applications but when it comes to R&R they get the error "Cannot match printer or port in control file". The odd thing is that if I login as a user and setup the printer object by going to Start | ^Printer and Faxes^ | ^Add a printer^ and then search Active Directory for that same printer then the printer gets added as a device and there is no error when they print. ____I don^t understand why R&R is throwing this error on printer objects that are installed using the printui.dll. The initial reason why I am using the script noted above is that the /ga signifies that you are installing the printer for all users on that system to see versus the working way which only installs the printer for the current user.____Is there something I am missing or is there a control file that I can modify to avoid this print error?____Thanks in Advance,__JeffH

Are you explicitly setting a printer name in the control file?____Kathleen__R&R Support
