RRWRUN in Windows XP

Post by Thomas_Freitas_(Guest) » Tue Jul 02, 2002 7:25 pm

I have had great success with R&R and have used it for years. With the advent of Window XP, it was only time before someone installed my system on that operating system.____The program functions on many Windows 98 computers with out any problem. In Windows XP, this user always received the error message that RRWRUN.EXE did not shut down properly and Windows is closing it.____This is for version 8.1 Build 8.1.027 I am using it in a Visual Basic program with all databases closed prior to running any reports.____Any help would be appreciated.____Thanks

Does RRWRUN.EXE work correctly outside of your application?____Kathleen__R&R Support

I^m not sure how to check that on an XP machine without being able to get down to the DOS level. The reports all work, it is when they exit the report that they get the message that Windows has to shut down RRWRUN.EXE____Let me know how I can check it in XP and I will have them do it and report back.____Thanks____Thomas Freitas

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jul-03-02 AT 11:03 AM (EST)]Kathleen,____I made a mistake when I mention the version of R&R that I was using. I created the reports in version 8, however, I am running the reports in Version 9.0, Build 9.0.005____As information: I create the reports in version 8 so that I can use a control file and then I run them with version 9^s rrwrun.exe and the dll^s that go with it. ____Thanks

This sounds like a similar problem in NT and Win2K when users don^t have permission to add or remove printers. It is concerned with R&R nor being able to install and uninstall a PDF driver. Because the PDF driver cannot be uninstalled you get the application error. Check out the FAQ^s on the website for the solution. It involves renaming or deleting a particular DLL or granting execute access to it.____I know this works because I have done this with sucess both for our clients and within our organisation.____Eddie Marshall__Technical Support__Landmaster__eddie@landmaster.co.uk
