Automated Export

Post by syntel » Tue Jan 28, 2003 12:01 pm

Dear Friends,____ Enviro: Clipper 5.2e, Blinker 5.1, and RRV9____ I wish to have my application(s) export an RR@ report to a comma-delimited ASCII file (preferably with a long file name (lfn) of my choosing).____ My client does not want to ^fool around^ (his words) with clicking on Export, and then choosing a whole bunch of options, before producing this .txt file. Instead he wants it automated to the maximum (by me).____ What RI_xxxx field(s) will I have to fill in to get this ascii file produced ??____Thanks for any hints !____ (BTW, I created and posted a mesage similar to the above last nite, but it disappeared ??? :(( )____-Mel Smith__

Dear Friends,____ Well, while I^ve been waiting all day for some help I^ve tried the following:____ Changed the RI_PRINTER setting to "CSV"__ Changed the RI_OUTFILE to "c:myfile.txt"____ Then ran the report again.____ It said:____ "No fields to report on selected line"____ (BTW, *my* selected line is a Group Footer ! -- NOT the record line)____ So, I went into the Report preview again and manually went thru the steps for exporting this line to a comma-separated data file (i.e., CSV)____ It worked *correctly* if i did it manually ! (i.e., selecting the proper group footer for exporting)____ So, my question is:____ How do I specify in my setup to R&R *which* report line I want exported ???______Thanks for any help offered !____-Mel Smith__

The way that it works is that unless you have saved the report selecting a different export band line, when you export using a band oriented format (such as DBF or text data), the default band line becomes a record band.__The only way around this to open the report in the designer, go to the export dialog, select the band line you wish to export and then save the report. Then when the report is run from runtime, it will use this saved default.____Kathleen__R&R Support
