Extract not getting all records

Post by Jill_Connelly_(Guest) » Mon Jan 23, 2006 3:23 pm

We upgraded to RR11 on Friday and one of the users is having an issue with the Extract option on one report. The report works fine when run to Screen or Printer but if they choose Extract, either the extract file contains only the header row (no data) or it contains the header and just the first record. They want the file to export in Excel (worksheet) format but would be happy if we could get it in Text format and import to Excel.____Other reports seem to be working fine if I try to extract however the one in question is the only report they have ever used the Extract feature with. ____This same report extract worked fine with R&R 6. Any ideas?

To clarify, here is what I am doing from our application:__1) Export Type - select Worksheet and enter file name__2) Export Options - select Record__3) Press Export.____XLS file is created but only header row and first record are on worksheet. I get the same results running directly in R&R 11 or when the runtime in our application. If I select Screen or Print, I get all the records as expected.______________

What happens if you export to CSV text data and then open that CSV in Excel?__Which band line did you select for export?____Kathleen__R&R Support

If I select Export Format of CSV and under Export Band select Record then open with Excel, I see the same results. Just the headers and first record. I have actually tried all the Single Band options and always get the same results just with a different format.____Only way I get all the data is if I use the Text option under Multiple Band. But this doesn^t give us the format we need for putting into Excel.

I just noticed that this particular report has a two line record band. The second line of the record is conditional -- only prints if certain test is true. If I delete that line, the report exports all records as it should. If it add it back in, only the first record on the report exports.____Is it possible to have a conditional such as this on a report you wish to export?

Conditional lines are indeed a problem for any of the single band export formats.____You could export to just plain text.____Kathleen__R&R Support

What do you mean to export to plain text? I have tried all the export options under single band and none of them seem to give me the data?____Do you mean use the multi-band? Or is there another way to export out to plain text? ____Otherwise, it sounds like my only option is to create a new report for this user that doesn^t use a conditional and have him run that one when he needs to export.
