Locking Linked dbf tables

Post by Brad_Oldenburg_(Guest) » Thu Feb 14, 2002 4:17 pm

In a number of applications, I am using a Access database with links to other dBase tables. When I run a report on one of these databases, other applications are unable to open the linked table.____I get the message "Run time error 3051 MS Jet engine cannot open file Y:...; It is already opened exclusively by another user."____None of the other programs opening this file use an exclusive lock and multiple links to the file can be open at once thru access, so it doesn^t appear to be a network issue. I^m left with assuming that RR tries to open an exclusive lock, though I don^t know why it would need to.____I am using Access 97, RR SQL 8.1 on a Novell network with mostly NT4.0 workstations____Any help would be appreciated____Thanks __Brad

Any file access related setting would be done within the configuration of the ODBC data source. R&R itself only reads the information that the driver returns. It does not do any direct file manipulation.____Kathleen__R&R Support
