R&R v8.0 and Win 2000

Post by Jim » Thu Jan 23, 2003 9:47 pm

I have a client who has been running an application with a Foxpro 6.0 application for several years on Win 95 and Win 98 machines. He has added his first Win 2000 machine to the network, and reports are not functioning. There doesn^t seem to be any execution of rrwrun.exe. Nothing happens.____The system uses the R&R version 8.0 runtime. Is it not compatible with Win 2000?

V8 predates Win2000 so there is no implied compatibility.__V10 is the current version and does run on Win2000.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Thanks for the quick response. It looks like my client will need to upgrade to v10 soon, but first I have some questions about the differences with v8.____I asked him to doubleclick on the v8 RRWRUN.EXE that is now on his Win 2000 machine. The usual dialogue box appears for report selection, but it is no longer open in the REPORTS folder, as it is on Win 98. Also, when he drills down to open a report, there is an error that a data table is in use. For a different report, the report runs fine in the display window.____If we upgrade both the Win 98 and Win 2000 machines on the network to the v10 RRWRUN.EXE, will there be changes required in any of the code? The application currently uses a RRUNIN file with the appropriate parameters for V8--Will this need to be modified? Or would it be better to keep the Win 98 machine on V8 and only upgrade the Win 2000 machine to V10?____Thank you for your assistance!
