Text File Export

Post by Cliff_Wiernik » Fri Mar 23, 2007 1:39 pm

We like to create dual purpose reports when can be printed to a file and the text file imported using the excel text file import wizard. That works fine with older rp1 type reports. All of those reports are text mode with compressed print. We have an alternate rrwfif.ini file that converts the font for compressed print to the courier 12 or 10 font. It maintains the relative column spaces.____Now that we have started to develop new reports directly in the Windows Designer with V12, we found that this process no longer works the same way. Since it is a rrw file, it does not use the rrwfif.ini file to do any conversion and the text file looses its spacing between columns.____We need an easy way to accomplish this similar to that used in the dos to windows conversion. Our windows reports are typically 6-7 points and are used to export to text files. We do not want to define a 12 point equivalent report if we do not have to as that would require all reports of this type to be defined twice.____Is there anyway to accomplish this. We are only using the runtime for this purpose.____

We faced this same problem about 6 months ago; raised the issue in this forrum but no joy. We had to redo the reports in uncompressed form.__We have faced another problem with V12__If I select Export via Email and burst the report, the first attachment comes out fine but the subsequent ones do not show/print the Group Header. The documentation says only Titles and summaries dont show. Incidentally the Group Footer shows fine.__Is there a way round this? ____Gift__Harare, Zimbabawe__
