Runtime printer error

Post by Robert_Seidman » Mon Nov 05, 2001 6:07 pm

Dear Kathleen:____I am running 2 runtime reports on the same computer. The first one runs just fine, the 2nd one crashes. Both reports will run fine on any other machine. The report is using R&R runtime version 8. It is crashing on a Windows 2000 professional machine that is using an HP 990c printer driver as its default printer. Right after the printer selection we receive the following error:____"RRWRun.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created." ____If I change the selected printer from the HP 990c to another printer on the 2nd report, it no longer crashes though I have no trouble running other reports to that printer (HP990c)____R&R8 is located on the network drive. What does the error mean, and where is the error log being written?____I thank you in advance for your kind help and consideration.____Sincerely,__RHS

My guess is that the saved printer is different on the good vs. bad machine. If you can open the bad report in the designer and then save it using a different printer, then that might help.____The error log is I believe a generic windows error log. The contents might not shed an particular light on the problem.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Dear Kathleen:____Life should only be so easy. ____In this application, I am using Visual Foxpro to print invoices. As soon as all of the invoices are printed, the user strikes a key, and we print an invoice register. Both the invoices and the invoice register are R&R Reports. Both are run on the same machine (operating system=Windows 2000). Both are configured to print to the same printer. The invoices print fine, but I get the error message every time we try to print the invoice register. (Should I select a different printer for the invoice register, then that too will run fine.) It does seem obvious that there is a problem with the printer driver, but why do the invoices print alright and the invoice register will not?____If I run the same 2reports (invoices and invoice register) on a different machine (operating system=Windows 98), even when it is configured to print to the same printer that is hooked up to the machine running Windows 2000, both the invoices and the invoice register print fine.____Any further guidance will be greatly appreciated.____Sincerely,__RHS
