R&R Runtime

Post by George_O_(Guest) » Wed Feb 06, 2002 11:00 pm

I^ve got a very confusing problem on one of a customer^s many computers. It is a Windows 2000 workstation. I^m calling RRWRUN.EXE from a 16-bit windows application using a control table. The command would be something like "RRWRUN temp r001000.dbf 1". Only on this one workstation I get the following message in a dialog box when the user tries to start the runtime:____Title Bar: "Program Error"__Message: "RRWRUN.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created"____After some searching I finally found the log file referenced. Hopefully it is not too long to past to the end of the message.____One interesting thing is that I can run the runtime successfully from the "cmd" prompt but not from "command" !!! (Choose "Start" then "Run" and type in "cmd" or "command", you^ll get different version information at the top of the command prompt window.)____I hope you can help me because I^ve searched MSDN with all the keywords I can thinkg of that would apply to this and can^t find anything that helps.____Here is the error log from windows:____Application exception occurred:__ App: (pid=1852)__ When: 2/6/2002 @ 20:06:14.383__ Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)____*----> System Information <----*__ Computer Name: PSULLIVAN-WIN2K__ User Name: psullivan__ Number of Processors: 1__ Processor Type: x86 Family 6 Model 5 Stepping 2__ Windows 2000 Version: 5.0__ Current Build: 2195__ Service Pack: 2__ Current Type: Uniprocessor Free__ Registered Organization: CMI/CeleXx ISG__ Registered Owner: Any User____*----> Task List <----*__ 0 Idle.exe__ 8 System.exe__ 140 SMSS.exe__ 164 CSRSS.exe__ 184 WINLOGON.exe__ 212 SERVICES.exe__ 224 LSASS.exe__ 408 svchost.exe__ 444 SPOOLSV.exe__ 488 defwatch.exe__ 512 svchost.exe__ 544 rtvscan.exe__ 596 regsvc.exe__ 612 mstask.exe__ 688 WinMgmt.exe__ 460 explorer.exe__ 960 loadqm.exe__ 868 vptray.exe__1056 wcmdmgr.exe__ 948 STClient.exe__1156 SvrIntf.exe__1576 AWHOST32.exe__1652 NTVDM.exe__1852 RRWRUN.exe__1708 DRWTSN32.exe__ 0 _Total.exe____(00400000 - Rename or remove the file CDINTF.DLL that is in the RRWRUN.EXE directory and the error should go away.____Kathleen__R&R Support

I will have to check for sure later today but I don^t recall seeing that file in the runtime directory. It^s not one of the files I distribute with my application. Would that file be loaded from another directory in the search path? Would it make a difference if they have my runtime distribution files in the application directory and the full R&R installed on their local drive?____Thanks for the quick responses.

If CDINTF.DLL is found, runtime will attempt to install the PDF printer driver. If the install is not successful, then we can crash on exit when we make the call to unload the driver.____Kathleen__R&R Support

That didn^t help. The only place I found the file CDINTF.DLL was in c:Program FilesR&R Report Writer. I renamed the file but the error still occurs.____Any other ideas?

I haven^t tried that but if you use Start:Run:cmd and then enter rrwrun from that command window it works. If you use Start:Run:command then enter rrwrun it gets the same error.____I will try this as soon as I can get access to their system again.

The latest was that if their tech support person logged into the workstation as Administrator the Runtime would work without any errors but if they logged in with the user^s name it got the error.____They have since given the user a new workstation with Win 98 and so I cannot pursue this.
