Windows 2000 Printing

Post by taylorjm » Sat May 12, 2001 10:30 am

I have a WIN2K user with COMPAQ PIII and an HP2100 Laserjet directly connected to the the machine. Using RRWRUN V8.1 (8/31/2000), the printer goes into error mode and prints nothing yet OFFICE 2000 on the same machine prints just fine. Any idea what is (Not) happening here?__Also what is the relationship between RRPD.DLL and the WIndows print drivers that are installed for a particular printer?__Jim Taylor__

Have you tried any alternate printer drivers?____Kathleen__R&R Support

No only because the client is remote. He has the most recent HP print driver installed for the 2100. Are you suggesting that there is a possible problem with R&R using an HP Print Driver?__

I have seen some printer driver dependent misbehavior with some drivers/some machines.____Not enough consistency in erroring that we have been able to track down the true source of the problem within our code.____Swapping drivers sometimes gets around the problem.____Kathleen__R&R Support

What type of driver swap are you suggesting? An older version? A different laserjet model? This situation is difficult to explain to a client that is able to print everything else they do with the existing driver! I assume that V9.0 has the same problem as V8.1 with some print drivers?

You can try an earlier laserjet model.__Problem would likely be present in V9.____What is troubling for us, is that not all users with the same driver are seeing the problem. It seems to be related to some other factor that is still to be tracked down.____Kathleen__R&R Support
