Windows XP & PDF Export

Post by Mel_Smith_(Guest) » Mon Jul 29, 2002 11:31 pm

Kathleen & those others interested,____ I am now totally satisfied with V9.0 and the PDF capability on Win 98 systems. As of this morning, I can produce PDF files perfectly and with no watermark (I used the more recent files noted in the download).____ Sooooo, I decided to move my application and the RRW stuff to an XP machine in my office (a Dell 4400) for final testing.____ Problem:____ When I select PDF export (along with all the proper things that Kathleen said for us to do in the control file), I got an error message that said:____ ^Cannot match .... Printer or Port to control file^____ Anything special I should do to get this PDF export working on the XP machine ???____ BTW, altho my neighboring XP machine is on my local intra-office network, it *does* have a HP Laser IIID printer defined as the default printer (but there is no actual printer attached to its LPT1: port.).____ I hardly ever use the XP and only keep it because my major client has a bunch of XPs, and this was *supposed to be* the final test before I passed this PDF conversion to him.____I would appreciate some help from anyone who might have gone thru this !!____ (also, I *hate* Win XP !!! )____-Mel Smith____

Make sure that the XP machine has all of the required PDF distribution file and that the login user has rights to install a printer.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,____ I^ll check it again (sigh ....).____ (but since *I* installed the (phony) HP Laser IIID printer this morning, I guess it must be *something* with the distribution files (again).____ All I have on the XP machine is my app, and a directory called RRW which contains the runtime stuff -- so I^ll check it again.____-Mel__

Kathleen,____ I^m sorry !____ I copied the ^old^ pdfdist.zip to the XP machine.____ When I copied the new files, I got good stuff coming on my XP machine (but not PDF stuff).____ Now, my user has got the new RRWRUN stuff, and was having difficulty until one of his ^technies^ came and changed ^compatibility mode^ on *his* XP machine. He says it now works correctly ! I tried to change some compatibility stuff on *my* machine too ..____ However, now *my* XP machine crashes during the start up of RRWRUN.____ Grrrrrrr !!!____ (the fault is in RRWRUN in the aclayers.dll My XP machine is NT5.1 Build 2600)____ This is embarassing because my user has got *his* XP machine working, but I can^t get mine going now.____ Of course, PDF works fine on my Win 98 and did work reasonably this morning before I screwed something up !!____-Mel__
