How to bypass PDF printer install

Post by Nick » Thu Aug 29, 2002 10:11 am

I have been following the thread about XP problems and RR installation of the PDF print driver. ____Since my end-users will never have the access rights to allow the install/uninstall of printers - what are the INI settings needed to tell RR to bypass the install/uninstall of the PDF printer?____Unfortunately - until the PDF print driver can be permanently installed by our system admin as part of the standard workstation setup - it looks like we can not use that capability.____If we did have a way permanently install the PDF print driver - then the RR temporary install/uninstall would never be needed. ____Thanks,__Nick__

In R&R builds done after Oct 05,2001 you can add a line to the Defaults section of your R?W.INI that says__PDFDriver=0____This will disable the load of the PDF Driver.__Note that this is a post 9.0.009 change so you would need to request an update file if you need this functionality.____Kathleen__R&R Support__kfleming@livewarepub.com

thanks - i will email you to get the updated software - __if "post" 9.0009 means later than the 9.0009 download patch on the RR web site.____do i need new runtimes also? - even if i don^t use the PDF print driver in reports processed by the runtimes? - or does this only impact the designers?____nick__
