Windows XP and RR10

Post by Chuck_Smith_(Guest) » Sun Oct 20, 2002 12:08 pm

I have a brand new installation of Windows XP. I installed RR10.__Everytime I close RR, XP generates an error with an app compatibility file. I finally tracked this down to the rrw.ini file.__After comparing the rrw.ini from a RR9 install on a different machine I see that the RecentFile List ini settings were missing and RR10 never updated the RecentFile List when I restarted RR10 after the error.____The solution as I^ve found is to copy the missing ini sections.__(A lucky discovery on my part) hope this helps!____[Save List]__BandWidth=80__ActionBar=1__FormatBar=1__FieldNames=0__PasteArgs=1__ShHzRul=1__ShVtRul=1__ShGrd=1__ShowCalcComment=1__IVer=2__CloseInsDlg=0__Library32=__Report32=____[Recent File List]__File1=__File2=__File3=__File4=__File5=__File6=

Those missing sections are values that get written to the INI file when the program is closed so that they will be the defaults for the next session. Maybe when you manually edited the file something changes with its permissions? I would be surprised if the absence of those settings alone would cause a problem (but I have been certainly surprised by things in the past.)____Kathleen__R&R Support

Ah! You^re on to the problem ... I removed the settings ... RR worked fine ... somewhere the file permissions got in the way.____
