R&R V. 7.0 RRW and RRWRUN

Post by tsnyder9185 » Fri Mar 28, 2003 3:37 pm

We are getting sporadic GPFs when running RRW.EXE and RRWRUN.EXE under Windows 2K & XP. Do you have any guidance on running this version under these OSs?____(As I mentioned before, we won^t be upgrading beyond this version because you won^t support saving to RP5.)____Tim

V7 is definitely a use at your own risk.____Although you cannot save to an RP5 in V10 you can use the conversion utility in V10 to put an RRW report back into an RP5 file.__But I am afraid that the RP5 format has gone the way of the 5.25" disk...____Kathleen__R&R Support

I^ve got the same problem and like you are reluctant to upgrade for the same reason. I tried Version 9.0 because I was told this would solve the problem but it didn^t, so how do I know a newer version will solve the problem? Upgrading at quite some cost simply to solve a bug is not on in my opinion.

You can get around things by using both Version 8.1 and 10.xxx ____I develop my reports in 8.1 because all reports fit into one file, .RP5, I then use the Version 10.xxx runtime and other components to run the program with the RRWRUNIN.DBF for instructions for the report. ____The setback is that I am not able to use all the functionality of Version 10.xxx, but I am able to use the single file .RP5 for the reports. I feel that this is the best of two evils. ____I have over 20 reports that I distribute with my software and feel that over 20 RRW files is not something that I want in the software directory when all I really need is one file. I^m sure that I will change this thought as time goes on and R&R comes out with things that will simply force me to do this. Or perhaps R&R will realize that its customers prefer the one file versus many files.____Tom Freitas
