Error - Library error

Post by john_hawkins » Tue Jun 17, 2003 7:44 am

I am running R&R v10 and have repeatedly got the error "(Report File)is being used. Do you want to make a copy" when the report file in question is definitely not in use.____If I select Yes I then get the error "Library error (cannot open file) reading report (report file)". There are times when this error occurs immediately when opening the report.____The files are stored on a Novell server and are clearly not in use. I am using a single user copy of R&R and have tried this on both a W98 and XP machine.____I can now not access some of my reports.____Help would be much appreciated.

Ian,____Yes I had a look at your message but it would indicate that upgrading to v10 wouldn^t solve your problem. ____You^re probably in the same position as me. I^ve got reports for clients that need changing and I don^t want to have to rewrite them!____Here^s hoping that there^s a solution.____John

If you are running Novell client version 4.83, you need to update to 4.83 SP1. This should correct the problem. ____Kathleen__R&R Support

I have never been able to replicate this problem on Win2000 in our test lab. Other users have seen it so it must be a Windows setting someplace that causes havoc but I do not know what it is..____Kathleen__R&R Support

Kathleen,____I appreciate how difficult it can be sometimes to identify the cause of a problem but this one is quite worrying. I^m having to rewrite today a report that has this error and my biggest concern is that I don^t know if it will happen again.____For the record I have tried to open this report in W98, W2K and WXP and get the same error each time.____John

This error has also been mention in an earlier topic - Topic #1320.____This describes my exact problem. There did not seem to be any resolution.____Regards____Ian

Opening files using explorer rather than R&R seems to solve the problem.____Regards____Ian

Kathleen,____I^ve updated the client to the latest version which is SP2 and the problem persists.____I have tried opening the report from R&R and from Explorer but get the error on both.____John
