ODBC / Field Names on export

Post by Sue_(Guest) » Wed May 26, 2004 10:34 am

1. I have an ODBC Connection that I used in a report and now they decided to name it different. Is there a way to change the data source connections on a report without recreating it? Also, is there a way to use more than one ODBC connection at a time?__2. When I export I believe R&R is using the field name as defined in the database for the header row. Is there a way to use the field Titles that I have on the report? I have used a text export and put the commas in to make it think it is a .csv file. That way I get all the bands exported and all the headings that I have. But I don^t want to have to have 2 reports (1 - export, 1 - print) for each report my users want. Do you have any ideas on that? I was thinking of making the comma a calculated field but then on export if you use the same field name more than once it is ignored. So I would only get one comma.__3. I got the RIPARAM working (THANK YOU). Will RIPARAM be in each new release of R&R? I have a weird situation where using the ParameterRR will not be useful for me - unless there is a way to pass it through a control file. __THANKS AGAIN for all your help.

You can have only one ODBC connection per report.__To change the datasource for a report you need to do it at the point of opening the report. So from the File Open dialog you select the report and then in the third box (assuming Allow Choice of Data Source on Open has been enabled in Options->Datasource) you can select the Data source to use for that report.____R&R uses the name of the field as the header. If you create a calculated field with the name you wish to use and have the expression as the table field, you can place the calculated field on the layout to export that alternate name.____There are no plans to discontinue support of RIPARAM().____Kathleen__R&R Support__

Kathleen,____"To change the datasource for a report you need to do it at the point of opening the report. I was not able to change the DataSource to a different name. Is this instruction applicable to a certain version. Is there another file that controls the report^s datasource.____Thanks

Make sure that in Options->DataSource that Allow choice of datasource is enabled for opening reports.____Kathleen__R&R Support

I verified that in options/datasource - for new reports - Allow choice of data source and Opening Reports- allow choice of data source are selected. But when I open an existing report, it did not allow me to select the odbc. Is there another file that control this behavior?__Thanks

And you are indeed using the File->Open command from the Report Designer menu?____Kathleen__R&R Support

Yes.____1) When you launch Arpeggio, you have an option of opening an existing report or creating new report, after selecting the report, it will prompt you for the database login.____2) The same thing happens if you cancel step 1. and proceed to File /Open option.____Thanks__

I am having exactly the same problem with not being prompted for the data source connection, even though I have set it in the options. What is the solution to this problem.____We are running ver 10.1.003

And you are indeed using the File->Open command from the Report Designer menu? In the dialog there should be a Data Source box at the bottom.______Kathleen__R&R Support____
