PostgreSQL 7.4.3 DB Access ERROR

Post by Ken_Waring_(Guest) » Fri Aug 20, 2004 1:59 pm

I have been using Postgres SQL 7.2.x with ODBC for a couple of years and writing reports with R&R 10 10.1.001. ____Just before writing this memo I upgraded to 10.1.003. The ODBC is labelled as being from Insight Distribution Systems and is version 7.03.02.00.________Recently we upgraded to Postgres SQL 7.4.3 and we are now experiencing errors when creating reports. Existing reports still run but I cannot add master tables.____When I try to create a new report I am getting a lot of extraneous information in the list indicating that R&R is not reading/interpreting the schema that it is reading.____When I try to set the master table it lists my username (kwaring) in front of the table name. If I continue, it gives me the following error:____DB Access ERROR: schema kwaring does not exist____I have spoken with my developer and he has indicated that we need to contact the creator of R&R.____We are in a critical state as this has made it impossible to create reports.____Can you assist with this?____Thx.__Ken Waring

If you go back to the 10.1.001 EXE does the problem still persist?____Kathleen__R&R Support

Yes, it is not a version issue with R&R.____It appears to be a general issue as to whether R&R supports schemas.____

I am in a bind with this problem. I have used R&R for over 10 years, it is fully integrated into our reporting for over 100 locations using xbase. I thought the transition to SQL would have been easier but it has proven to be a show stopper.____Unfortunately, if I cannot resolve this issue, I will no longer be able to use this product.____Can you please indicate if it is over between us :(

Did you try a user SQL report to see if that would work?____Kathleen__R&R Support

I am not quite sure what you mean by a user SQL report.____Existing reports will still run. You can open them and preview/print the data. The problem occurs when you try to change the master table and set relations. Both of these features appear to have problems.____I am not sure that the problem is with R&R SQL. My developer is trying to find other ODBC drivers to see if the problem persists.____Hopefully there is someone out there at Liveware or in the general community that has seen similar and can pose a solution.

Hi Kathleen,____I have changed to a different ODBC driver from OpenLink. Now I can create reports but the data does not come through for date and text fields. It does for numeric.____Here is what happens...____1) Create a report using the wizard.__2) The report is prepopulated with the table fields__3) The character fields are coming onto the report with no width. You cannnot see them. You have to trust that they are there. I can highlight them and widen them.__4) When I preview the report, there is no data in these columns.____Do you have any suggestions?
