Cannot open index file
Xbase 8.1.023____Here^s the situation:__I have a report with both the Master table and 1 related table that I create each month. At then end of the month I point both tables to the new monthly tables. I have been doing this for several years. However, this time I first got a warning message when clicking ok after changing to the related table from the Oct to the Nov table that a calculated field will be deleted - this usually means there is a change of field attribute (i.e. first table the field is a character, 2nd table it^s an integer). So I checked both the Oct table and the Nov table and both had the calculated fields as integer.__But now when I try to open up the report I get this message:__Cannot open index file (file may be in use). (it^s not in use)__I believe the problem is with the related table after testing a bit. Also I created a report with the same master and related table and it works fine - I can open it, I can switch to different months and back again with no problems but I still can^t open up the original report. I would hate to have to rewrite it, it^s a bit complicated. __I have re-created the related table, I^ve re-indexed it.__What other steps can I take to fix this?
=> RE: Cannot open index file
After you get the cannot open error, are you able to re-select the index?__You do realize that you are using an old version of R&R and that the latest release that was done for 8.1 was an 8.1.026 so you do not even have the latest of the this old guy.____Kathleen__R&R Support

I don^t know why it didn^t offer the re-selection of the index at first but I did try throughout the day to open the report and finally was offered the chance to re-select the index, I did and am now back on track. Any ideas why this problem came up out of the blue, seemingly?____R&R was bundled with the software we use which is now the dinosaur - it was sold to another company and they are discontinuing the product. It looks like the next product will probably use Crystal. So even though I^ve read about the upgrade features and would be excited to have them available...well, what^s the point? Sigh.
