What are these files doing?
Hi All, ____When we do our daily back-ups at night, we keep getting the following messages with the following files: ____I have checked the directory and they are all from the RRW directory.____FOXUSER.FPT : Object is Busy __FOXUSER.DBF: Object is Busy ____Dictfld.CDX : Object is Busy __Dictfld.DBF: Object is Busy __Dictfld.FPT: Object is Busy ____These files are therefore not getting backup for some reason or another and as a result causes error messages to be displayed in the backup log file.____Could anyone please tell us what these files are doing, and if someone could shed some light on why they keep on failing during backup.____Lastly if i would be grateful if someone could advise us if its important to back these files up in the first place or if we should just ignore these files.____PS:__Dont know if this helps but i have created a daily schedular which runs Rapid Runner each day. Could this be the problem?__

These files are used by the R&R data dictionary. You can add the line:__Dictionary=0__to the DEFAULTS section of your c:windowsRRW.INI (RSW.INI for SQL) to disable the dictionary and avoid this problem.____Kathleen__R&R Support

"These files are used by the R&R data dictionary. You can add the line:__Dictionary=0__to the DEFAULTS section of your c:windowsRRW.INI (RSW.INI for SQL) to disable the dictionary and avoid this problem."____Would RRW run without any problems if we did set the dictionary=0? ____

It simply will not archive field information to the data dictionary as you select data files and will not display dictionary information for fields within the report.____Kathleen__R&R Support

Hi Kathleen,____Am i right to think that the files mentioned above are always running in the background?____If they are running all the time in the background, they will never be backed-up by the system.____If the machine does fail, will these files be needed to restart the program as we will not have a back-up copy of them?__________
=====> RE: What are these files doing?
They should only be in use when a dictionary update is being performed. My guess is that in your case, there was an error condition that caused them to remain in use.____Kathleen__R&R Support

IF these files are in use, how could i go about closing them?

Rebooting the machine might be the only way to clear the in use flag.__Or you could check the task manager to see if anything is running.____Kathleen__R&R Support
