PDF Problem

Post by Mel_Smith_(Guest) » Thu May 05, 2005 3:40 pm

Kathleen (& other interested people):____Enviro: RRW runtime Version 9 on a Win2000 machine and Novell-networked to approx 20 others.____My client has one machine (out of 20 of them) that fails to run a PDF report. (The rest of the machines run the PDF report with no problem).____ The error message is:____ "Cannot match printer or port in control file"____Question: What does my client look for in the problem machine ? Is there something in its printer settings that should be looked at ??______ (Also, I can certainly get the control file sent to me to examine it)____btw, the machine (like all the others) only has one networked printer that everybody prints to.____TIA,____-Mel Smith__

To start, try setting RI_WPTR to a ? so that the user gets the printer selection dialog and see if the R&R PDF Export printer appears in the list.______Kathleen__R&R Support

Sorry about that :(( )____TIA,____-Mel Smith__

Something is preventing the installation of the PDF driver. Have you tried running the INSTALL.EXE program that is on the R&R CD in the PDFFILES directory?__This will allow the user to independently install the PDF driver outside of R&R.____Kathleen__R&R Support

As I noted above this ^bad^ machine is the only one which won^t run pdf stuff (all the rest of RRW runs perfectly).____ An R&R CD ?? -- I^ll look for it, but on my machine here at home I have no PDFFILES directory, and no install.exe anywhere on my machine that relates to PDF.____ I^ll scour the office tomorrow for it and try to refresh my memory, but ...____ in the meantime, is there some ^setting^ on a windows 2k or xp machine that would prevent the installation of the pdf driver ??____ This bad machine has been given a fresh install of the rrsetup.exe package which I built for all machines. Even with this new installation, there is no joy :((____I^ll contact you again tomorrow.____Thanks for the weekend response !____-Mel Smith______

There is no ^pdffiles^ folder/directory on any of the cd^s, but there *is* a ^pdfdocs^ directory on each of the cd^s but no install.exe.____ Did I misunderstand you ??____TIA,____-Mel Smith__
