R&R 8.0 ActiveX Control

Post by Jimsy » Wed Aug 29, 2001 12:32 pm

We have tried to use the ActiveX control for a project that will distribute the reports via web pages. However, we have certain users who are running Internet Explorer 5 and Norton Antivirus 2000 and for them we get the message that IE has caused an invalid page fault in NAVENG32.DLL. Also, the control registers itself every time the web page is accessed. Some users had up to 131 instances of the control registered.____Is there an updated version of the ActiveX control available for R&R 8.0?__

One thing we mentioned is that the RepViewCtrl object registers itself numerous times. If you look in IE, Tools, Internet Options, Temporary Internet Files Settings, View Objects the control is listed several times.____We noticed that the CLASS ID in the RRPRVIEW.INF file in the RRPRVIEW.CAB and the CLASS ID generated by R&R in the HTML export file are NOT the same. They are one digit off:____RRPRVIEW.INF: 66960E20-DE25-11CF-876F-444553540000__HTML FILE: 66960E23-DE25-11CF-876F-444553540000____On a hunch, we changed the INF CLASS ID to match the HTML generated ID. Then we removed the RepViewCtrl and reaccessed a page to re-register it. This was performed several times and the control now only registers itself ONCE.____I have not tried the new CAB file that you sent, but the CLASS ID in its INF is the same as in the original CAB.____
